# How to Conduct Hunt Trains

## What are Hunt Trains?

Hunt Trains are player-organized events in which a group of players go to multiple A-Ranks and take them down within a relatively short period of time. The term and methods have evolved over the years and vary between Data Centers and worlds.

In recent years, Hunt Trains are usually organized by a Conductor. The Conductor has the location map flags of each A-Rank readily available to direct the crowd to one-by-one. These flags are "scouted" ahead of time.

Hunt Trains start at a gathering point such as an Aetheryte in a zone. This location is announced via Linkshells and Discord servers. After waiting some time for people to gather, the Conductor links a map location flag of the first A-Rank in shout chat. Players participating in the train move over to that A-Rank to kill it. Once it has been defeated, the Conductor links the location of the next A-Rank. This keeps going for as many A-Ranks in an expansion.

## About This Guide

This guide is based off of my experiences on the Aether data center. Your data center may have different practices and customs.

This guide provides resources for getting started with scouting and conducting without the use of 3rd-party tools. It **does not** cover how to reach out to your community and coordinate with other conductors, how to advertise your train, or how to use 3rd-party tools that help with train conducting. Scouting and conducting trains is possible on PC, console, with keyboard and mouse, and with controller!

{% hint style="danger" %}
**I highly recommend reaching out to your local community before you run a train and coordinating with the existing groups who regularly run trains. Not only is it the nice thing to do, but you can potentially avoid ruffling feathers, especially on servers that have a regular process going to keep trains running.**
{% endhint %}
